SIPPO supports BSO at Biofach 2022

Biofach 2022, the World’s Leading Fair for Organic Food, was held in Nuremberg (Germany) at the end of July 2022. Among the almost 2300 exhibitors from 94 countries were companies from Albania, Peru, Serbia and Tunisia. They came to the fair as part of the trade fair activities of Business Support Organisations (BSO) in these countries. These BSOs, for their part, were supported by the teams from SIPPO Albania, Peru, Serbia and Tunisia, which used the opportunity to carry out active capacity-building work.

SIPPO at Biofach 2022

After a break of two years, the focus of the fair was on personal exchange, networking and in-depth discussions of topical issues. Visitors and exhibitors were also discovering new products and developments and were inspired by innovations and trends and enjoyed the multi-sensory experience of a diverse range of products. From the beginning the major issues of our times like climate protection, sustainability and global food security were a key theme. Exhibitors and visitors alike emphasised the unique trade fair experience on site.

Capacity building on the ground by SIPPO country teams

SIPPO Albania supported the BSO "Albanian Investment Development Agency (AIDA)", building on its previous capacity building activities for successful trade fair participation. These included processes for preparing exhibitors for their presence at international fairs, market analyses, BSO-internal processes for the selection of exhibitors and the management of exhibition stands, digital contact initiation during and follow-up measures after the trade fair, and other communication measures.

SIPPO Peru supported BSO Promperu, among others, in the further development of techniques for bringing companies into contact with potential customers and engaged with Adex in the update of a market analysis on biological products. Adex had started this analysis even before the pandemic.

The Serbian Chamber of Commerce was at Biofach for the third time with its own pavilion. SIPPO Serbia supported this BSO in designing the trade fair participation (concept to implementation). It also initiated capacity-building activities for the companies that were present at the pavilion of the Chamber of Commerce, for instance active market research, customer acquisition and the use of social media.

SIPPO Tunisia worked closely with the German IPD in supporting the BSO “Agence de Promotion des Investissements Agricoles – APIA”, for example in training APIA employees in the field of natural ingredients. Particular emphasis was placed on the promotion of derivatives of dates and the preparation of a potential promotion of Tunisian olive oil at a future Biofach.

Under SIPPO's leadership, a special event was held to intensify exchanges between the BSOs from the SIPPO countries present, and at another event in cooperation with the Organic Trade for Development Program (AT4D) organisation, importers met with the BSOs supported by SIPPO and their companies.
