The SIPPO Trade Promotion Academy (TPA) is SIPPO's comprehensive e-learning platform. For more than two years, employees of SIPPO Partner BSOs – and other interested parties – have participated in e-learning modules free of charge and with great success. The TPA has just recently been technically updated and received a new layout. Two new modules will be available by the end of 2022.
There are currently six e-learning modules on the platform that deal with the most important topics in the field of export promotion services. The topics covered include Market Analysis, Commercial Missions, Trade Fairs, Market Orientation Missions, Virtual Matchmaking, and the Destination Promotion Toolbox for Tourism BSOs. In addition, some modules are also translated into French and Spanish.
The e-learning modules are based on the Trade Promotion Collaboration, a partnership between SIPPO and other Trade Related Instruments Connected partners, particularly Import Promotion Desk (IPD) and the Centre for the Promotion of Imports from Developing Countries (CBI), the initiative for import promotion in Germany and the Netherlands respectively, which jointly elaborated the content upon which the e-learning material is based. Together with ITC, the International Trade Center of the United Nations, the modules are technically developed and set up.
What’s in for SIPPO’s Partner BSOs?
The aim of the TPA is to enable SIPPO's partner BSOs to offer high-quality export promotion services to their customers, the export-ready companies. TPA participants are deepening their knowledge for undertaking export promotion services; they can exchange on their experiences and ask their questions in the provided user-forums. Peers from all over the world can answer and give advice. Same as the respective tutors from each module. Additionally, after a successful completion of the module, each participant receives a certificate.
“The course has offered me a lot of knowledge (…)
on any exporting process” (SIPPO Partner BSO, Colombia)
Many SIPPO Partner BSOs have used the TPA for their trainings with great success. In Peru, Indonesia, South Africa, and Colombia, more than 200 participants joined for different sessions on the internet-based platform over the last 24 months. The BSOs improved their knowledge in the field of market analysis, trade fair participation, virtual matchmaking and many more. This directly improves their services and thus also the export opportunities of their companies. The TPA can also be of great support when it comes to staff turnover and onboarding: new BSO recruits can learn some of the most important basics of their work on the TPA – with very high-quality content.
New modules: “Export Promotion Strategies” and “Virtual Trade Promotion”
The TPA has just recently been technically updated and received a new layout. The Tourism Toolbox will soon be translated into Spanish and two new e-learning modules will be accessible by the end of the year: “How to successfully prepare a sector export promotion strategy” and a module on “Virtual Trade Promotion”. This module goes together with SIPPO's digitalization efforts and supports BSOs to adapt their interventions to the opportunities related to digitalization in export promotion.
